Our daughter had a viral infection that required for her to be admitted for treatment at The Medical City in Ortigas. So for 3 days we had to get our food mainly from the restaurants nearby. Fortunately, there were many choices including those at the Rockwell Business Center across from the hospital. I first went to Publiq to get some hot drinks for the wife and myself as we waited at the Children's ER for our daughter's test results late in the night. We later bought food and drinks from them after the results led to hospitalization for treatment.<br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySIWQm2xeYiV9bahBQ4cppI1UujGhU-n5hfW7ttJlJMtKHQNLTZg97skcDyRqpkHhx3QuhEUZ8CCyKgWHzhCuv8cZ7BaPPdKTvM6Ez7k0lfEi_4UiobrC79FTPqd0x95gAkkV1WsVbTXMc5inmtZ3bIYsCBfJ8PE5J-wuXIbsyf8patq-C22l_W_X2sg/s640/image0.jpeg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhySIWQm2xeYiV9bahBQ4cppI1UujGhU-n5hfW7ttJlJMtKHQNLTZg97skcDyRqpkHhx3QuhEUZ8CCyKgWHzhCuv8cZ7BaPPdKTvM6Ez7k0lfEi_4UiobrC79FTPqd0x95gAkkV1WsVbTXMc5inmtZ3bIYsCBfJ8PE5J-wuXIbsyf8patq-C22l_W_X2sg/w300-h400/image0.jpeg" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>Box seal for the cookies I bought as a treat and baon for our daughter</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtE0TFqnn9aHkBQWv6WGBzx07vQkznu_O3AkaMxUy7dTLXPjb1-3zo68E2wWmEdTxvTQCXPERnaQUm7AuefmtYsah8uaoLWNQArT9boFmEbg0n_OSh2m5Fm7lm2iVpl3tAaRRhgx8pv82UhKNT1xjpxquPkDMBGmZT-sI65R0Cg9EiwIdxk5Yhkzgveuk/s640/image1.jpeg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtE0TFqnn9aHkBQWv6WGBzx07vQkznu_O3AkaMxUy7dTLXPjb1-3zo68E2wWmEdTxvTQCXPERnaQUm7AuefmtYsah8uaoLWNQArT9boFmEbg0n_OSh2m5Fm7lm2iVpl3tAaRRhgx8pv82UhKNT1xjpxquPkDMBGmZT-sI65R0Cg9EiwIdxk5Yhkzgveuk/w300-h400/image1.jpeg" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>White chocolate walnut cookie</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">While I don't have photos of their pesto pasta nor of their cakes, pastries and pizzas, friends I told about this cafe say only good things about their food. We've also ordered from them via Grab on several occasions and they are very consistent with the high quality of their food. <br /></div><div><p></p><p>- <br /></p></div>Doctrinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16718641671024310608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534768527697951166.post-79114944095843279702024-02-29T12:29:00.001+08:002024-02-29T12:29:22.907+08:00Thoughts on a Leap Year 2024<p style="text-align: justify;">Today is February 29. It is a Leap Year. A lot can happen over four years. In 2020, we were bracing ourselves for the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it seems all have returned to the 'old normal'. February 2024 was very eventful for me. A beloved aunt passed away and until now, I cannot compose a decent article to celebrate her life. I think I have not had the proper grieving for her. I was not able to attend her funeral unlike the time when another beloved aunt passed away. Now Tatay has no other living sibling after the passing of Nay Paring. Tatay seems to be taking it well but I know he is sad inside and perhaps feels about his mortality. </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Our dog Mocha had surgery a couple of weeks ago. This was to remove a tumor that was diagnosed as malignant. The dog is 10 years old. That's about 70 to 80 in dog years depending on your reference. She's better now but we also had a scare and know that she maybe has 2 or 3 years remaining considering her being a canine. Our daughter grew up with Mocha, who is such a loving animal. Dogs like her give unconditional love and we have lots of happy memories with her.<br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Most recently, our daughter was admitted to a hospital for the first time. Her confinement was due to a viral infection (not COVID-19) that led to her having very high fever. The experience gave us a scare as well as reminded us how difficult it is to get good medical care in the Philippines. I guess we are blessed to have the resources for our daughter to get the medical care she needed. There is hope but it is fleeting for many.<br /></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The other day (February 27) as I was exiting our home to go on an early evening walk, I saw a meteorite as it streaked across the clear sky. Another one was spotted, this time with my wife, seconds after. A third appeared as we walked. These are so rare that people make wishes when they see one. In our case, I guess we had three, each. I just don't remember making 3 wishes as their appearance were so unexpected but very pleasant considering the quick spectacle.<br /></p><p>I will make another reflection like this in 2028. I wish the next 4 years will be blessed ones.<br /></p><p>-<br /></p>Doctrinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16718641671024310608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534768527697951166.post-24319834522260612292024-02-27T15:18:00.003+08:002024-02-27T15:18:45.868+08:00Dinner at Kimono Ken, Rockwell Business Center, Ortigas Avenue<p style="text-align: justify;">We haven't eaten at a Kimono Ken (or a Sumo Sam) in a while. Of course, that's because there are a lot of Japanese restaurants to choose from and we have our favorites or preferences when it comes these restaurants. And there are no Kimono Ken branches near us so that's probably the most logical reason we haven't eaten here for a while. But there was one and the only Japanese option near The Medical City last weekend so we decided to have an early dinner there.<br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; While this is a work trip, we made sure we had some time to revisit some places we have frequented in our travels to the Latin City of the Philippines. That includes the Alavar Seafood Restaurant that's famous for its Alavar sauce. I think I have traveled to Zamboanga at least once a year every year in the past 6 years including during the pandemic years.<br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_wdZwjpMUTS8XYMlF1c8R_C7ARaAi1pyFAwNeWjHqCipOCoUIlK8L46RzeRBmAMsFZDx6oYal9U2UK_vFr9xq5NSaSWSVyAz5yIZQtHGBSMWY_pA8DvOS3z_dUeToBvfYKGhltwe2cb282DSIsgog7f02IdcRfxo8x_GuU4XMjjz67O0XkuzieW44u44/s640/IMG_1513.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_wdZwjpMUTS8XYMlF1c8R_C7ARaAi1pyFAwNeWjHqCipOCoUIlK8L46RzeRBmAMsFZDx6oYal9U2UK_vFr9xq5NSaSWSVyAz5yIZQtHGBSMWY_pA8DvOS3z_dUeToBvfYKGhltwe2cb282DSIsgog7f02IdcRfxo8x_GuU4XMjjz67O0XkuzieW44u44/w400-h300/IMG_1513.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Zamboanga City port of entry already <br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyvuvQeBfZUCcEEk_Pa71TtxqQ_NR54gYgvLwfcYn_9Kf1nlMs80fhupYIz2AxKOC59Gh-Ys8Xw-s_5G1hv8pvGMn_Gjf5MO_eP5BaeeHrKZ3TvWzY8EubhHg4IJPxQyUW3S0NfYQDKptB4Ou0Rz_fw_jEYIJS0mtCR9K1mUD-MxudS9oGg1GgR1TYGaw/s640/IMG_1517.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyvuvQeBfZUCcEEk_Pa71TtxqQ_NR54gYgvLwfcYn_9Kf1nlMs80fhupYIz2AxKOC59Gh-Ys8Xw-s_5G1hv8pvGMn_Gjf5MO_eP5BaeeHrKZ3TvWzY8EubhHg4IJPxQyUW3S0NfYQDKptB4Ou0Rz_fw_jEYIJS0mtCR9K1mUD-MxudS9oGg1GgR1TYGaw/w400-h300/IMG_1517.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>Colorful vintas are featured at the airport</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlENxQN1ET2iwvjN-n5CrP_4oiOvjrtwuP08_nf5R5dAyHLoBKEPToxUkijrEktOhu3VCyROUOHmlw8XOWSRIJCLnBcEzOKn13X9CJ4Yi-pbCodxZPX9KOKsklDvdWux4f-G6xKR1Uuo3X4CXOM8fLzhe1voNocU6dUptJbVyz5_vDpkBYjaG0BQj7bSA/s640/IMG_1535.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlENxQN1ET2iwvjN-n5CrP_4oiOvjrtwuP08_nf5R5dAyHLoBKEPToxUkijrEktOhu3VCyROUOHmlw8XOWSRIJCLnBcEzOKn13X9CJ4Yi-pbCodxZPX9KOKsklDvdWux4f-G6xKR1Uuo3X4CXOM8fLzhe1voNocU6dUptJbVyz5_vDpkBYjaG0BQj7bSA/w300-h400/IMG_1535.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>One of our "must go" places to eat at is the Alavar Seafood Restaurant.</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Aside from the meetings with our counterparts and a courtesy call to City Hall, we will be doing some field work. Before doing some shopping we decided to eat an early dinner. We ended up at Nono's, which is just across from Landers. While the wife ordered Fried Chicken and Waffles, our daughter went for Mac n Cheese. I decided to try something new and interesting from the menu, and ended up with their Pan-roasted Sole with Aglio Olio.<br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY4q674JxvUAUmvz5JnM3FBjjN0GBwfLUKTHXr1-g_SzXgOMJXPhyphenhyphen9Ml8ZApbH2RhLKJoV2f2rLQraEQnmzksXLmL8fo7hv-ePeNlMn1Nhwuc8CpqZq7l7CF3SJwjTDKGjtvOD-BRU2tiZAt8GmzMlfBZ-Po_Dk-_l6MO_oGAQe5PVT1KkT_-K-LeQ4gs/s640/IMG_1362.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;">.<img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY4q674JxvUAUmvz5JnM3FBjjN0GBwfLUKTHXr1-g_SzXgOMJXPhyphenhyphen9Ml8ZApbH2RhLKJoV2f2rLQraEQnmzksXLmL8fo7hv-ePeNlMn1Nhwuc8CpqZq7l7CF3SJwjTDKGjtvOD-BRU2tiZAt8GmzMlfBZ-Po_Dk-_l6MO_oGAQe5PVT1KkT_-K-LeQ4gs/w400-h300/IMG_1362.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>Their Pan roasted Sole with Spaghettini Aglio e Olio is really good!</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The mixture of flavors or tastes from the sun dried and cherry tomatoes, the lemon, capers and olive oil was splendid! The shrine is one of the most popular if not the most popular pilgrimage sites in the Philippines. It is certainly among the most visited along with Baclaran (Our Lady of Perpetual Help), Quiapo (Black Nazarene) and Cebu (Sto. Nino). </p><p style="text-align: justify;">Last Tuesday, as we were to have dinner at a nearby mall to celebrate the birthday of our daughter, I was surprised to see a Marian exhibit. The exhibit featured replicas of images of the Virgin of Antipolo. Note that the original image is in the shrine like those of other images, often very old (e.g., some more than 100 years old) that are usually kept and preserved in thier 'home' churches. Among the more familiar images are those of Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Guadalupe, the original images of which may be found in France, Portugal and Mexico, respectively. Locally, there is Our Lady of Manaoag (Pangasinan), Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Baclaran), among other images. <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRd3YhdCTkgfJJ1rjSyYsLqEkBeo54GoE_dIbSAe4TxC60FYH0YQFWkOK5xMrjUa7hPFay44zpGiRcUbLMYGotQl7N-HZkKm3il3X2xWglUp18rLmuXlO8rWseh386mletHKgGMjk0Fj9g19oRrF8EDKg84Ir4n9uQruoJ-XBUvo9dXtZoXwqkuJhwdk/s640/IMG_1395.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinRd3YhdCTkgfJJ1rjSyYsLqEkBeo54GoE_dIbSAe4TxC60FYH0YQFWkOK5xMrjUa7hPFay44zpGiRcUbLMYGotQl7N-HZkKm3il3X2xWglUp18rLmuXlO8rWseh386mletHKgGMjk0Fj9g19oRrF8EDKg84Ir4n9uQruoJ-XBUvo9dXtZoXwqkuJhwdk/w640-h480/IMG_1395.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLCKnaphUQBA4pnj72knUSZmlaqcKJuYDIedzTaUYh8nsTgUS53XbFaSN2PolioTX8859JIMopN8HEmcr5Pl59NU9erQaqKjF-4VMTJFpqBnXavWmtV3292C9FhHLc0kv3Sq9xoidi7DXXAmbbmwR-Lx7eIVD8BZTL5GC0-_fx6w80bO8RLLKrKsHCVQM/s640/IMG_1394.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLCKnaphUQBA4pnj72knUSZmlaqcKJuYDIedzTaUYh8nsTgUS53XbFaSN2PolioTX8859JIMopN8HEmcr5Pl59NU9erQaqKjF-4VMTJFpqBnXavWmtV3292C9FhHLc0kv3Sq9xoidi7DXXAmbbmwR-Lx7eIVD8BZTL5GC0-_fx6w80bO8RLLKrKsHCVQM/w480-h640/IMG_1394.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>A replica of the Virgin of Antipolo is at the center of the exhibit. They spent the break in Cebu and one of the favorite souvenirs from there is their otap. The otap is like a cookie but with a somewhat crispy and flaky (both at the same time) texture to it. There is usually sugar on top of the otap. It is also described as a puff pastry as stated in many otap packaging. It is perfect as a snack and goes well with a beverage especially coffee or chocolate.<br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sqcj7MMnA93wyK_NB40VsI2zH8_xiI44kEYydMNFHoHa7K3RWjzWVr93WFhZIjte9U-YJf8LLQq-pgh5O0A36n5Ba49KksgVGUMpRMqj80qsbq-nBby2jLfDINcqtmzf2LHJ1nlm0bfRHch9UpCBCUAGcVARKdSWM_KtED54aGnJhq8YcuxwEVShdQQ/s640/IMG_1154.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7sqcj7MMnA93wyK_NB40VsI2zH8_xiI44kEYydMNFHoHa7K3RWjzWVr93WFhZIjte9U-YJf8LLQq-pgh5O0A36n5Ba49KksgVGUMpRMqj80qsbq-nBby2jLfDINcqtmzf2LHJ1nlm0bfRHch9UpCBCUAGcVARKdSWM_KtED54aGnJhq8YcuxwEVShdQQ/w300-h400/IMG_1154.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>My friend told me that Hillside Bakeshop's special otap is the best in Cebu.</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-SK_nFwyplXPxhZLTR3xIluzUXQtQvDGyVc_wLNuubF18h46KiJfUdCkdvWt-qSk-VXH7f9dsFlr38MWFg4tusX_LisiJiossNaF9bjESGWm4P0KIP3O2Nz3dU7a8Pbj09FGAplLg2McsamfHeIsoot-DdVu_phetH8_1vx2JdgGlZks-WsL15VZp7lw/s640/IMG_1155.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-SK_nFwyplXPxhZLTR3xIluzUXQtQvDGyVc_wLNuubF18h46KiJfUdCkdvWt-qSk-VXH7f9dsFlr38MWFg4tusX_LisiJiossNaF9bjESGWm4P0KIP3O2Nz3dU7a8Pbj09FGAplLg2McsamfHeIsoot-DdVu_phetH8_1vx2JdgGlZks-WsL15VZp7lw/w300-h400/IMG_1155.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>The otap is made in the town of Carmen, which is located north of Cebu City. Shamrock is the 'go to' <i>pasalubong</i> and can easily be purchased at many stores including their own and the local groceries or supermarket. Of course, these are also sold at the airport terminal. Titay's is also available in most stores and supermarkets but has better packaging than Shamrock. But Titay's is better known for its other products. It just so happens they have otap, too. It is Shamrock that claims to be home of Cebu's finest otap. I even recall that at one time their packaging stated "the house that otap built" or something like that. My friend says Hillside's is the best otap now. Tasting it, I thought it is better than Shamrock and Titay's. It tasted creamier than Shamrock's or Titay's. I would say that based on the pack I was given that this was better otap. However, I wouldn't discount other otap in Cebu being better in taste (or quality), or that there are other otap made elsewhere that would taste better. I guess the jury is still out there for the best otap.<br /></p><p>-<br /></p>Doctrinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16718641671024310608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7534768527697951166.post-10164748045590592692024-01-14T19:31:00.001+08:002024-01-14T19:31:34.743+08:00Sunday lunches at home<div><p style="text-align: justify;">There was a lot to thank for and celebrate during the holidays last year. That meant some good food on the table during the weekends. Sunday lunches and dinners are with our families so we cook or order food for what we consider our special meals of the week. We love grilled food and I'm able to purchase great quality seafood from the market (I usually go to the market on weekends.) for grilling. That will usually be tuna (jaw, belly or steak), pompano, blue marlin, or prawns. We also like pork barbecue, chops or liempo. Sometimes we also have grilled sausages. If we can get marinated chicken (Mediterranean or inasal, for example), then we also grill the chicken.<br /></p><p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; What used to be a pandesal store is now a nice restaurant. Chef Hazel's Table, as we learned from the owners themselves, used to be located in Taytay. We didn't ask why they transferred or moved out of their former location but assumed its probably to find a better place from which they can attract more customers.<br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk6vViWqK3p-zOr13X_NnBDEZsaRNg8y54GPSi3snQ0IqXh5pNcCG-hRL3Vm2fDAthAamFWKQNb1jIaS097QPjYi4FxK8ABX7p4NoV5ChfDjea_tGzy_aXW-AVJn7iTaxgsdjdPRKZfzE4ueP5DGe9wWslVRs_K9m5Daf5Txo8xcqBCC0nv1BLe2_GgXM/s640/IMG_0530.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk6vViWqK3p-zOr13X_NnBDEZsaRNg8y54GPSi3snQ0IqXh5pNcCG-hRL3Vm2fDAthAamFWKQNb1jIaS097QPjYi4FxK8ABX7p4NoV5ChfDjea_tGzy_aXW-AVJn7iTaxgsdjdPRKZfzE4ueP5DGe9wWslVRs_K9m5Daf5Txo8xcqBCC0nv1BLe2_GgXM/w480-h640/IMG_0530.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>Restaurant menu featuring familiar items like those for breakfast and Filipino cuisine. Before going for my last morning walk of 2023, I placed my old pair of Merell's on top of our garbage bin where I thought someone would find it and take it. It would have been garbage and probably destroyed if I had put it inside instead. True enough, I saw the pair being carried away as I rounded the corner near my home.<br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg8T8ut2BghIoYGIGAdv2BUkEs0GtPXB8EdwCpsXu_0_tETBdbIGyFwHbZRVmWPWLazgnrwt31vHZf_MtG1jYjtqZNRp5pBn1vJzhwofA4WJvpQ8Xc7N_ViqobRYKCoqfAFTvVgiQF-eOQFA9Xtvidbmv_7u-CIQzPxp0Au8Mv3OPiq1drbT4khqzJOh0/s640/IMG_1090.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg8T8ut2BghIoYGIGAdv2BUkEs0GtPXB8EdwCpsXu_0_tETBdbIGyFwHbZRVmWPWLazgnrwt31vHZf_MtG1jYjtqZNRp5pBn1vJzhwofA4WJvpQ8Xc7N_ViqobRYKCoqfAFTvVgiQF-eOQFA9Xtvidbmv_7u-CIQzPxp0Au8Mv3OPiq1drbT4khqzJOh0/w480-h640/IMG_1090.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>The shoes are still repairable and probably good for a couple or more years depending on use.</i><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p style="text-align: justify;">It would be difficult to estimate the number of steps I made using these shoes. Ive had them for more than 5 years and wore these shoes during field work (they're water resistant and have good grip) and leisurely travel (they're great for walking around cities). I hope whoever got them uses them and that the shoes would be useful for a few more months if not years.<br /></p><p>-<br /></p>Doctrinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16718641671024310608noreply@blogger.com0
