A weekend in Tagaytay is always a refreshing experience and for the first time we were booked at the Taal Vista Hotel. We had planned to stay at the hotel for the longest time but always found a reason not to considering the many other places to stay in Tagaytay over a weekend. Past overnights included stays at (not necessarily in any order) Sonya's Garden, Nurture Spa, Hotel Dominique, 8 Suites, Days Hotel, and T House. There are many others we are curious about and would probably try out next time we're in Tagaytay.

Taal Vista Hotel still has the best view of the Taal Lake and Volcano. You seem so near the volcano that you can almost touch it! I have vague memories of my first time in Tagaytay when we were passing through en route to the beaches of Nasugbu for my father's company's excursion. I did remember passing by what may have still been the Taal Vista Lodge to just get a view of the volcano. At the time, there were really no other places where you could get a decent view of Taal considering Tagaytay was undeveloped and many lands along the ridge were bare lands that were still to be surveyed. We didn't have the sophisticated cameras we now have (and even on our mobile phones today) and so we really didn't have much as a souvenir from that time. I guess whatever photo taken at the ridge then would probably be in an old album or a baul somewhere if it didn't perish in Ketsana's floods.
