Lunch delivery from Gino's Brick Oven Pizza

One nice thing about my office is that it's location is strategic and I can order food from various restaurants and cafes in the area as well as those located a bit farther. I posted on being able to order from Wild Flour, for example, which has branches at Greenhills and at Ortigas Center (The Podium). This time around, I wanted to try again the pizza from Gino's Brick Oven Pizza, which has a branch along Katipunan Avenue. I ordered pizza and pasta via Grab.

Their version of aglio olio is creamy. I was expecting the aglio olio to just be olive oil based like Mama Lou's or Italianni's.

We had a good lunch that day at the office. I'd probably order again soon but perhaps for pizza and another pasta dish. Of course, it might be a better experience if one ate at the restaurant itself.

Lunch delivery from Wild Flour

I was curious if I could have some food delivered from Wild Flour.

My lunch came in this bag and took about 1 hour from their branch in Greenhills. I learned that I can have food delivered from either of their branches in Greenhills or Podium.

This is one of my 'go to' meals. I almost always order the same whenever I eat at Wild Flour and especially if I'm by myself.

They make one of the best tuna melt sandwiches I've tasted. It's probably more about the bread and the cheese than the tuna they use for the sandwich.

I actually ordered 3 of their old-fashioned donuts but these 6 came in the box. No complaints here!

Of course, the meal was on the expensive side. This was not fast food. It didn't or won't hurt the budget if you ordered from Wild Flour once in a while, say once every two weeks or maybe once a month. Still, I thought it is worth it and will order again sooner than later.

On workshop (delivered) meals

We had a virtual workshop spread over three mornings la couple of weeks ago. While we were not expecting any meals delivered to our homes and the office (some of those who attended opted to go to the office to get stable internet connection), some were jokingly thanking the administrators and support staff for lunch, especially as some sessions spilled beyong 12:00 noon. On the last day though, we were surprised with the delivery of very generous lunches at our homes. In my case, it took some effort since I live far from the office. More so when I saw the boxes from Alba, the popular Spanish restaurant.

A pleasant surprise when I came down from the study was a couple of boxes tied in a white ribbon.

One box was labeled Combinado de Mariscos (combined seafood) and the other was Paella Valenciana.

The nearest Alba to our home is the one at Capitol Commons. I assume the staff ordered from there. I am not sure others had the same lunch boxes though as the staff probably knows what people preferred to have delivered to them. The food was definitely for sharing unless one's a glutton so we had a nice lunch for the family that Friday.

Non-motorized deliveries

I spotted this cyclist apparently en route to a delivery. It is nice to see bicycles being used for deliveries anywhere.

Fast food delivery can definitely be done using bicycles especially in service areas or neighborhoods where their use is very suitable.

I have seen only a few of these services using bicycles so far and its probably the same guy on the same bike. I have also seen at least a McDonald's bike and maybe a few with Grab and Lalamove. These are rare sightings, however, and so not many establishments have been using bicycles yet in our area or elsewhere where I've been since the easing of the quarantine. I hope these catch on and there will be more bicycle deliveries for food and other items. Of course, its more convenient for couriers to use motorcycles instead as they are faster and won't tire their riders. No matter how strong the rider is, he will wear down if he has to deliver quite frequently during his shift.
